Rich and Creamy Apple Crisp Recipe

By Sheri

Dessert isn't something we do often in this house but it is a sure way to brighten everyone's spirits. Apple crisp has always been a popular treat here and I thought I would make it even more delicious by adding a cream cheese mixture. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Rich and Creamy Apple Crisp Recipe Ingredients: 6 Granny Smith Apples 1/2 cup sugar or splenda 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1/4 cup apple juice 1/2 block cream cheese 1 tsp vanilla Topping … [Read more...] about Rich and Creamy Apple Crisp Recipe

Soup Recipe: Cream of Mushroom

By Sheri

A cup of soup is just what you need during a cold spell like the one we've been experiencing. It warms the body and the soul, and it's easy on the budget too! Cream of mushroom soup is one of my comfort foods and with this recipe, it can become yours too. Creamy soups are particularly easy to make with Evaporated Milk. Making them at home rather than purchasing canned soups allows you to control the amount of salt and fat that goes into your recipe, and homemade always tastes better! … [Read more...] about Soup Recipe: Cream of Mushroom

Soft Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies

By Sheri

Since my son was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis four years ago, we have moved to making more gluten free products than ever before. The biggest downfall with gluten free cookies and baked goods has been the texture. The cookies we have purchased have always been hard and crumbled easily, while we prefer a nice soft cookie. With the help of gluten free flour, we made some delicious gluten free chocolate chip cookies that we can all enjoy. My recipe is inspired by the recipe found … [Read more...] about Soft Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies

Thanksgiving Throwback: Turkey Cake Pops

By Sheri

Here is a throwback post to the days when cake pops were all the rage and blog photography wasn't such a big deal. They may not be the prettiest of turkeys, but we had so much fun making these six years ago that I had to share them again. ----------------------------------------------------------------- I have admired the cake pops made by some of my favourite bloggers, and wanted to try some of my own. In honour of the Canadian Thanksgiving, I decided to finally give it a try. I made turkey … [Read more...] about Thanksgiving Throwback: Turkey Cake Pops

Dress up your dishes with some Apple Cranberry Stuffing

By Sheri

I am the first to admit that I buy boxed stuffing or the frozen Butterball stuffing (that stuff is amazing!) rather than making my own stuffing from scratch, but my husband enjoys being adventurous in the kitchen and once tried his hand at apple cranberry stuffing. While it was a slightly sweeter stuffing than I am accustomed to, it was still very good! Here is his recipe... Apple Cranberry Stuffing Ingredients: 1/2 cup chopped onion 1/2 cup chopped celery 2 garlic cloves, minced 1/4 … [Read more...] about Dress up your dishes with some Apple Cranberry Stuffing

It’s not Thanksgiving without the candied yams

By Sheri

If there's anything I can count on in this world, it's my son asking this question when coming home for a family dinner... "Will there be candied yams?" I get the distinct impression that he doesn't make the trip home to visit his family, but only for the candied yams. If I dare answer "no" to this question, I doubt he would come with me. Of course, they are a family tradition and a favourite dish of my own as well, so if we are having turkey, we are also having candied yams. This recipe is … [Read more...] about It’s not Thanksgiving without the candied yams
